Karma-Phala Rahasya and the Ethics of Dāna (कर्मफल-रहस्यं दानधर्मश्च)
इत्येतदृषिणा प्रोक्तमुक्तवानस्मि यद् विभो । शुभाशुभफलप्राप्ती किमत: श्रोतुमिच्छसि
ity etad ṛṣiṇā proktam uktavān asmi yad vibho | śubhāśubha-phala-prāptī kim ataḥ śrotum icchasi ||
Bhīṣma berkata: “Wahai yang perkasa, demikianlah telah aku sampaikan apa yang diucapkan oleh sang resi. Tentang perolehan buah baik dan buah buruk, apakah lagi yang ingin engkau dengar?”
भीष्म उवाच
Bhīṣma signals the completion of a sage-derived instruction and frames it in terms of karma-phala: actions lead to auspicious or inauspicious results; he invites the listener to ask what further clarification is desired.
