अन्नदान-प्रशंसा (Praise of the Gift of Food) | Annadāna-Praśaṃsā

य एवं नैव कुप्यन्ते न लुभ्यन्ति तृणेष्वपि । त एव नः पूज्यतमा ये चापि प्रियवादिन:,जो ब्राह्मण कभी क्रोध नहीं करते, जिनके मनमें एक तिनके भरका लोभ नहीं होता तथा जो प्रिय वचन बोलनेवाले हैं, वे ही हमलोगोंके परम पूज्य हैं

ya evaṁ naiva kupyante na lubhyanti tṛṇeṣv api | ta eva naḥ pūjyatamā ye cāpi priyavādinaḥ ||

Bhishma berkata: Mereka yang sama sekali tidak marah, yang tidak tunduk kepada ketamakan walau untuk sesuatu yang remeh seperti sehelai rumput, dan yang bertutur kata manis serta lembut—merekalah sahaja, bagi kami, yang paling layak dihormati.
