Vivāha-dharma: Kanyā-pradāna, Śulka, and Pāṇigrahaṇa-niṣṭhā (अनुशासन पर्व, अध्याय ४४)

स्थितिं च धर्मे जग्राह स तस्माद्‌ गुरुवत्सल: । अनुज्ञातश्न गुरुणा चचारानुत्तमं तप:,गुरुवत्सल विपुलने गुरुसे यही वर माँगा कि “मेरी धर्ममें निरन्तर स्थिति बनी रहे।” फिर गुरुकी आज्ञा लेकर उन्होंने सर्वोत्तम तपस्या आरम्भ की

sthitiṁ ca dharme jagrāha sa tasmād guruvatsalaḥ | anujñātaś ca guruṇā cacārānuttamaṁ tapaḥ ||

Bhishma berkata: Maka Vipula, yang sangat setia kepada gurunya, memohon dan memperoleh keteguhan untuk tetap berpegang pada dharma. Setelah mendapat izin gurunya, dia pun menjalankan tapa yang paling utama agar komitmennya pada kebenaran tidak terputus.
