तव चैव गुणश्लाघी पुत्र उत्पत्स्यते महान्‌ अस्मद्वंशकर: श्रीमान्‌ सत्यमेतद्‌ ब्रवीमि ते,“तुम्हारे गर्भसे भी एक अत्यन्त गुणवान्‌ और महान्‌ तेजस्वी पुत्र उत्पन्न होगा, जो हमारी वंशपरम्पराको चलायेगा। मैं तुमसे यह सच्ची बात कहता हूँ

Transliteration

tava caiva guṇaślāghī putra utpatsyate mahān asmadvaṁśakaraḥ śrīmān satyam etad bravīmi te

Translation

Bhīṣma memberi jaminan dengan kebenaran: “Daripada rahimmu akan lahir seorang putera yang amat unggul budi—besar, bercahaya, dan makmur—yang akan meneruskan zuriat keturunan kita. Aku mengatakan ini kepadamu dengan sebenar-benarnya.”
