प्राणांस्त्यक्त्वा मतज्रीडपि सम्प्राप्त: स्थानमुत्तमम् । इस प्रकार उसे वर देकर इन्द्र वहीं अन्तर्धान हो गये। मतंग भी अपने प्राणोंका परित्याग करके उत्तम स्थान (ब्रह्मलोक)-को प्राप्त हुआ
śakra uvāca — prāṇāṁs tyaktvā mataṅgo ’pi samprāptaḥ sthānam uttamam |
Śakra (Indra) berkata: “Setelah melepaskan nafas kehidupannya, Mataṅga juga mencapai kediaman yang tertinggi.” Maka, sesudah mengurniakan anugerah itu, Indra pun lenyap di tempat itu juga; dan Mataṅga, meninggalkan hayat fana, sampai ke keadaan paling luhur—Brahmaloka.
