Tīrtha-vaṃśa Upadeśa: Instruction on the Fruits of Sacred Waters
आज्याहुतिं विना चैव यत्किंचित् परिविष्यते । दुराचारैश्व यद् भुक्त तं भागं रक्षसां विदु:
ājyāhutiṁ vinā caiva yat kiñcit pariviṣyate | durācāraiś ca yad bhuktaṁ taṁ bhāgaṁ rakṣasāṁ viduḥ ||
Bhīṣma bersabda: Apa jua bahagian makanan yang dihidangkan tanpa terlebih dahulu mempersembahkan korban ghee (ājya), dan apa jua yang dimakan oleh mereka yang rosak akhlaknya—ketahuilah bahawa bahagian itu milik rākṣasa.

Food should be sanctified through a prior offering (ājyāhuti) and approached with righteous conduct; otherwise the act of eating is treated as spiritually tainted, metaphorically described as becoming the ‘share of the rākṣasas’.
