Aṣṭāvakra–Strī-saṃvāda: Dhṛti, hospitality, and a dispute on autonomy
अथ तं प्रमदाः प्राहुर्भगवान् प्रविशत्विति । स च तासां सुरूपाणां तस्यैव भवनस्य हि
atha taṃ pramadāḥ prāhur bhagavān praviśatv iti | sa ca tāsāṃ surūpāṇāṃ tasyaiva bhavanasya hi ||
Kemudian para wanita itu berkata kepadanya, “Biarlah yang mulia masuk.” Lalu dia pun, bersama wanita-wanita yang elok itu, benar-benar memasuki rumah yang sama. भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights how social honorifics and sensual allure can be used to invite someone into a situation; it implicitly points to the need for vigilance, restraint, and discernment (viveka) when entering morally charged contexts.
A group of women address the revered man, inviting him to enter; he then goes into that very house along with those beautiful women, setting the scene for what follows in the story.
