Bhishma berkata: “Wahai Krishna, kurniakanlah izin kepadaku. Kini aku akan melepaskan jasad ini. Setelah aku benar-benar mendapat perkenanmu, aku akan berangkat menuju keadaan yang tertinggi.”

The verse highlights the ethical and devotional ideal that even a great warrior-sage like Bhishma seeks rightful sanction before a decisive act—here, the final renunciation of the body. Krishna’s approval symbolizes alignment with dharma and the assurance of the highest spiritual goal.
Bhishma, lying on his bed of arrows and nearing his chosen time of departure, addresses Krishna directly. He requests Krishna’s permission to relinquish his body, expressing that with Krishna’s consent he will attain the supreme destination.
