युधिछिर उवाच ये च धर्ममसूयन्ते ये चैनं पर्युपासते । ब्रवीतु मे भवानेतत् क्व ते गच्छन्ति तादृूशा:
yudhiṣṭhira uvāca ye ca dharmam asūyante ye cainaṃ paryupāsate | bravītu me bhavān etat kva te gacchanti tādṛśāḥ ||
Yudhiṣṭhira berkata: “Wahai Datukanda, jelaskan kepadaku: mereka yang mencela dharma, dan mereka yang setia memelihara serta mengamalkannya—ke manakah mereka pergi selepas mati?”
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse frames a moral contrast: contempt for dharma versus devoted practice of dharma, and asks about their respective posthumous outcomes—implying that ethical orientation and reverence toward dharma shape one’s destiny.
In the Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction setting, Yudhiṣṭhira respectfully questions the elder (Bhīṣma, addressed as ‘Grandsire’) about the fate of two types of people—those who denounce dharma and those who uphold it—seeking authoritative guidance on moral consequences.
