tataḥ sa labdhvā tāṃ bhāryāṃ varuṇaṃ prāha dharmavit | utathyaḥ sumahātejā yat tac chṛṇu narādhipa ||
Kemudian, setelah memperoleh kembali isterinya, Utathya—yang mengetahui dharma dan bersinar dengan kewibawaan besar—berkata kepada Varuṇa. “Wahai raja, dengarkanlah apa yang dikatakannya.”
अजुन उवाच
The verse signals that the coming speech is to be evaluated through dharma: even powerful beings like Varuṇa are answerable to moral law, and rightful relationships (such as marriage) must be respected and restored.
Arjuna narrates that Utathya has recovered his wife and now speaks directly to Varuṇa; the king is asked to listen to Utathya’s words, which will explain or admonish Varuṇa’s conduct.
