उद्धव: क्षोभणो देव: श्रीगर्भ: परमेश्वर: । करणं कारणं कर्ता विकर्ता गहनो गृह:,३७३ उद्धव:-जगतकी उत्पत्तिके उपादानकारण, ३७४ क्षोभण:-जगत्की उत्पत्तिके समय प्रकृति और पुरुषमें प्रविष्ट होकर उन्हें क्षुब्ध करनेवाले, ३७५ देव:-प्रकाशस्वरूप, ३७६ श्रीगर्भ:-सम्पूर्ण ऐश्वर्यको अपने उदरमें रखनेवाले, ३७७ परमेश्वर:-सर्वश्रेष्ठ शासन करनेवाले, ३७८ करणम्-संसारकी उत्पत्तिके सबसे बड़े साधन, ३७९ कारणम्-जगत्के उपादान और निमित्तकारण, ३८० कर्ता-सबके रचयिता, ३८१ विकर्ता-विचित्र भुवनोंकी रचना करनेवाले, ३८२ गहन:-अपने विलक्षण स्वरूप, सामर्थ्य और लीलादिके कारण पहचाने न जा सकनेवाले, ३८३ गुहः-मायासे अपने स्वरूपको ढक लेनेवाले
uddhavaḥ kṣobhaṇo devaḥ śrīgarbhaḥ parameśvaraḥ | karaṇaṃ kāraṇaṃ kartā vikartā gahano guhaḥ ||
Bhīṣma said: He is called Uddhava, the Agitator, the Luminous Deity, the Womb of Prosperity, and the Supreme Lord. He is the Instrument and the Cause; the Maker and the Fashioner of manifold worlds; unfathomable in nature, and hidden—veiling His own essence through māyā. In this hymn-like enumeration, Bhīṣma underscores the Lord’s absolute sovereignty: the cosmos arises through Him, is sustained by Him, and yet He remains beyond ordinary grasp, inviting reverence and devotion grounded in dharma.
