Discerning Dharma in Accord with Time
A person’s inner disposition and conduct shape how their presence is experienced: some seem inert and unapproachable, while others naturally delight the mind simply by being seen. The verse points to cultivating qualities that make one’s presence beneficial and agreeable to others.
Śrīmaheśvara is speaking in an instructive mode, offering a general observation about human nature—contrasting those whose presence repels with those whose presence attracts—within the broader ethical counsel characteristic of the Anuśāsana Parva.
