न कुट्यां नोदके सड़्ो न वाससि न चासने । न त्रिदण्डे न शयने नाग्नौ न शरणालये

na kuṭyāṃ nodake saṅgo na vāsasi na cāsane | na tridaṇḍe na śayane nāgnau na śaraṇālaye ||

Mahādeva bersabda: “Bagi seorang lelaki yang mendambakan mokṣa (pembebasan), jangan ada keterikatan—pada pondok, pada air, pada pakaian, atau pada tempat duduk; juga jangan terikat pada tongkat tiga (tridaṇḍa), pada tempat tidur, pada api suci, bahkan pada mana-mana tempat perlindungan. Pencari mokṣa mesti meninggalkan rasa memiliki dan kebergantungan pada sandaran luaran, sekalipun yang berkaitan dengan kehidupan pertapaan.”
