धर्म्यमर्थ्य च काम्यं च काले चाभिटह्तितं वच: । न प्रतीयन्ति ते नूनं तेनासि हरिण: कृश:,तुम्हारी बातें धर्म, अर्थ और कामके अनुकूल एवं सामयिक होती हैं, तो भी दूसरे लोग उनपर ठीक विश्वास नहीं करते हैं। इसलिये तुम कान्तिहीन एवं कृशकाय हो रहे हो

dharmyām arthīṃ ca kāmyāṃ ca kāle cābhihitaṃ vacaḥ | na pratīyanti te nūnaṃ tenāsi hariṇaḥ kṛśaḥ ||

“Kata-katamu selaras dengan dharma, membawa kepada kesejahteraan, dan menyenangkan bagi hasrat yang benar; lagi pula diucapkan pada waktunya. Namun orang tidak benar-benar menaruh kepercayaan padanya. Itulah sebabnya, wahai rusa, engkau menjadi pudar dan kurus.”
