तपः:प्रणिहितात्मानं मन्ये त्वारण्यकाड्क्षिणम्‌ । बान्धवा नाभिनन्दन्ति तेनासि हरिण: कृश:,मुझे यह भी जान पड़ता है कि तुम्हारा मन तपस्यामें लगा है और इसलिये तुम जंगलमें रहना चाहते हो, परंतु तुम्हारे भाई-बन्धु इस बातको पसंद नहीं करते हैं; इसीलिये तुम सफेद और दुर्बल हो गये हो

tapaḥ-praṇihitātmānaṃ manye tvāraṇyakāṅkṣiṇam | bāndhavā nābhinandanti tenāsi hariṇaḥ kṛśaḥ ||

Aku fikir batinmu telah tertumpu pada tapa, sebab itu engkau rindu tinggal di rimba. Namun kaum kerabatmu tidak merestui hal itu; maka engkau menjadi pucat dan susut seperti rusa—terhakis oleh pertentangan batin antara pelepasan dunia dan tuntutan keluarga.
