Bṛhaspati–Yudhiṣṭhira Saṃvāda

वृत्तशौचं मन:शौचं तीर्थशौचमत: परम्‌ । ज्ञानोत्पन्नं च यच्छौचं तच्छौचं परमं स्मृतम्‌,शुद्धि चार प्रकारकी मानी गयी है--आचारशुद्धि, मनःशुद्धि, तीर्थशुद्धि और ज्ञानशुद्धि; इनमें ज्ञानसे प्राप्त होनेवाली शुद्धि ही सबसे श्रेष्ठ मानी गयी है

vṛttaśaucaṃ manaḥśaucaṃ tīrthaśaucam ataḥ param | jñānotpannaṃ ca yacchaucaṃ tacchaucaṃ paramaṃ smṛtam ||

Bhishma berkata: Ada kesucian pada perilaku, kesucian pada hati, dan kesucian yang diperoleh melalui tīrtha, tempat suci; namun melampaui semuanya ialah kesucian yang lahir daripada pengetahuan sejati. Kesucian yang terbit daripada pengetahuan itulah yang diingati sebagai yang tertinggi.
