मानसतीर्थ-शौचप्रशंसा | Praise of the ‘Mental Tīrtha’ and the Marks of Purity
सदा द्वादशमासान् वै जुह्मानो जातवेदसम् | स्थानं वारुणमैन्द्रं च रौद्रं वाप्पधिगच्छति,जो मनुष्य बारह महीनोंतक प्रतिदिन अग्निहोत्र करता हुआ सोलह दिन उपवास करके सत्रहवें दिन केवल हविष्यात्र भोजन करता है, वह वरुण, इन्द्र, रुद्र, मरुत, शुक्राचार्यजी तथा ब्रह्माजीके लोकमें जाता है और उन लोकोंमें देवताओंकी कन्याएँ आसन देकर उसका पूजन करती हैं
bhīṣma uvāca | sadā dvādaśa-māsān vai juhvāno jātavedasam | sthānaṃ vāruṇam aindraṃ ca raudraṃ vāpy adhigacchati ||
Bhishma berkata: Sesiapa yang selama dua belas bulan terus-menerus menuangkan persembahan ke dalam Jātavedas (api korban) setiap hari, akan mencapai kediaman Varuṇa dan Indra, serta alam Rudra. Ajaran ini menegaskan bahawa kewajipan yajña yang dilakukan dengan disiplin dan ketekunan membawa kepada tujuan rohani yang tinggi dan kemuliaan di sisi para dewa.
