Praise of Ācāra as the Basis of Longevity, Fame, and Prosperity

नैकवस्त्रेण भोक्तव्यं न नग्न: स्नातुमर्हति । फटे हुए आसनपर न बैठे। फूटी हुई काँसीकी थालीको काममें न ले। एक ही वस्त्र (केवल धोती) पहनकर भोजन न करे (साथमें गमछा भी लिये रहे)। नग्न होकर स्नान न करे

naikavastreṇa bhoktavyaṃ na nagnaḥ snātum arhati | phaṭe huye āsanapara na baiṭhe | phūṭī huī kāṃsī-kī thālīko kāmameṃ na le | eka hī vastra (kevala dhotī) pahanakara bhojana na kare (sāthameṃ gamachā bhī liye rahe) | nagna hokara snāna na kare |

Bhīṣma bersabda: “Jangan makan dengan hanya sehelai pakaian, dan jangan mandi dalam keadaan telanjang. Jangan duduk di alas yang koyak, dan jangan gunakan pinggan gangsa yang retak. Inilah aturan adab untuk memelihara kesopanan, kebersihan, dan maruah dalam kehidupan harian—disiplin kecil yang menegakkan dharma melalui pengendalian diri dan penghormatan terhadap tatasusila masyarakat.”
