अथ पर्यायश: सर्वान् वाहनायोपचक्रमे । पर्यायश्चाप्यगस्त्यस्य समपद्यत भारत,नहुषने बारी-बारीसे सभी ऋषियोंको अपना वाहन बनानेका उपक्रम किया था। भारत! एक दिन महर्षि अगस्त्यकी बारी आयी
atha paryāyaśaḥ sarvān vāhanāyopacakrame | paryāyaś cāpy agastyasya samapadyata bhārata ||
Bhīṣma berkata: Kemudian, menurut giliran, dia mula menjadikan semua resi sebagai kenderaannya. Dan, wahai Bharata, dalam putaran giliran itu, tibalah pula giliran Agastya.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights how arrogance and misuse of authority lead one to violate dharma—especially by dishonoring sages—and sets up the moral consequence that such adharma inevitably brings downfall.
Nahusha, acting with overbearing pride, begins compelling the sages one after another to serve as his bearer/vehicle; the narration notes that the sequence reaches the point where Agastya’s turn comes.
