देवदानवभूतानां सद्यस्तुष्टिकर: स्मृत: । येडन्ये वैहारिकास्तत्र मानुषाणामिति स्मृता:,वैसा धूप देवताओं, दानवों और भूतोंके लिये भी तत्काल संतोष प्रदान करनेवाला माना गया है। इनके सिवा विहार (भोग-विलास) के उपयोगमें आनेवाले और भी अनेक प्रकारके धूप हैं, जो केवल मनुष्योंके व्यवहारमें आते हैं

devadānavabhūtānāṁ sadyas-tuṣṭikaraḥ smṛtaḥ | ye ’nye vaihārikās tatra mānuṣāṇām iti smṛtāḥ ||

Śukra berkata: “(Kemenyan) ini diingati sebagai yang segera mendatangkan kepuasan kepada para dewa, para asura (iblis), dan makhluk halus. Selainnya, ada pula pelbagai jenis kemenyan yang digunakan untuk kesenangan dan hiburan; yang demikian itu dianggap sebagai kegunaan manusia.”
