तत्राद्भुतान्यदृश्यन्त निमित्तानि महाहवे
tatrādbhutāny adṛśyanta nimittāni mahāhave
Di sana, dalam pertempuran besar itu, terlihat pelbagai alamat yang menakjubkan—tanda-tanda buruk yang menegaskan betapa beratnya pertikaian itu dan betapa besar beban dharma pada apa yang bakal terungkap.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores that major acts—especially war—carry moral and cosmic consequences, often mirrored by 'nimitta' (portents). It invites reflection on dharma: when violence is imminent, one should read the ethical gravity of the moment and act with heightened responsibility.
Vaiśampāyana reports that, at the scene of a great battle, extraordinary omens appeared. The narration uses these signs to foreshadow the seriousness of the coming events and to heighten the sense of impending outcome.
