Vāraṇāvata-prasaṃsā and the Pāṇḍavas’ Departure (वरणावत-प्रशंसा तथा पाण्डव-प्रयाणम्)
अभिफषिक्तं तु श्र॒ुत्वैव कृतार्थो5स्मीति चिन्तयन् । प्रियं सखायं सुप्रीतो राज्यस्थं समुपागमम्,मैंने सुन रखा था कि ट्रुपदका राज्याभिषेक हो चुका है, अतः मैं मन-ही-मन अपनेको कृतार्थ मानने लगा और बड़ी प्रसन्नताके साथ राज्यसिंहासनपर बैठे हुए अपने प्रिय सखाके समीप गया
abhiṣiktaṃ tu śrutvaiva kṛtārtho ’smīti cintayan | priyaṃ sakhāyaṃ suprīto rājyasthaṃ samupāgamat ||
Vaiśampāyana berkata: Mendengar bahawa dia benar-benar telah ditabalkan (sebagai raja), aku berfikir dalam hati, “Aku telah beroleh kepuasan.” Lalu, dengan sukacita, aku mendekati sahabatku yang tercinta, yang sedang bersemayam pada kedudukan diraja (di atas takhta).
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical value of loyal friendship and gratitude: upon hearing of a friend’s rightful enthronement, one feels fulfilled and promptly approaches to share in that joy and offer support, rather than remaining indifferent.
The narrator (speaking through Vaiśampāyana) hears that his friend has been formally consecrated as king. Feeling his purpose satisfied, he happily goes to meet the friend, who is now seated in royal authority.
