Vṛṣotsarga (Bull-Release Gift): Procedure, Merit, and Narratives on Dharma, Karma, and Liberation
इत्युक्त्वा ते गताः सर्वे साधवो दीनवत्सलाः / सो ऽहं तदुक्तमार्गेण तथैवाचरमन्वहम्
ityuktvā te gatāḥ sarve sādhavo dīnavatsalāḥ / so 'haṃ taduktamārgeṇa tathaivācaramanvaham
Setelah berkata demikian, semua orang suci—yang penyayang terhadap mereka yang menderita—pun berangkat. Dan aku, menurut jalan yang mereka ajarkan, terus beramal dengan cara yang sama, hari demi hari.
Narrator (a devotee/recipient of instruction within the Preta Kanda narrative; framed in the Vishnu–Garuda dialogue)
Concept: Sādhu-upadeśa and steadfast anuvṛtti (daily following) of the taught mārga; compassion of the virtuous as a catalyst for transformation.
Vedantic Theme: Satsanga as a purifier; śraddhā and niṣṭhā (steadfastness) as prerequisites for inner realization.
Application: Seek wise mentors, record their instructions, and implement them consistently (anvaham) rather than sporadically; cultivate compassion as a sign of progress.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: karuna
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 2.6.104 (ācāra-vaśī yogin); Garuda Purana 2.6.106 (resulting inner vision)
This verse emphasizes that guidance given by compassionate sādhus should be followed precisely and consistently, making disciplined practice itself a form of dharma.
It shows that progress (including preparedness for post-death states discussed in the Preta Kanda) depends on steady daily conduct aligned with righteous instruction, not on occasional acts.
Adopt a clear, ethical routine taught by trustworthy elders or scriptures and follow it daily—consistency in right action is the core message.
