Lord Vishnu (narrating/instructing Garuda, with an illustrative address 'O maiden')

Concept: Śravaṇa (hearing the sacred call) catalyzes vairāgya; abandoning worldly identification, one should undertake the supreme course oriented to Keśava and His holy places.

Vedantic Theme: Vairāgya and śravaṇa as gateways to higher pursuit; redirecting life from artha/kāma to paramārtha.

Application: Respond to spiritual ‘calls’ by simplifying life, prioritizing pilgrimage/retreat/satsanga, and committing to a clear sādhana plan rather than postponing.

Primary Rasa: vira

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Type: tirtha/kshetra (implied)

FAQs

This verse presents Keśava as the supreme refuge: hearing the divine call, one should abandon attachment and move toward the highest spiritual goal centered on Vishnu.

It uses the image of a resolute king leaving his city to show decisive inner renunciation—responding to a spiritual summons and choosing the higher path over worldly security.

Prioritize dharmic living and devotional practice over obsession with status and possessions; when a clear call toward spiritual discipline arises, follow it consistently.
