Lord Vishnu (addressing Brahma)
Concept: Creation (sṛṣṭi) proceeds through delegated agency: Brahmā acts, but efficacy is grounded in the Lord’s prasāda (grace) and command; order (krama) is essential.
Vedantic Theme: Īśvara-sankalpa and nimitta-kāraṇatva: the Supreme as ultimate cause; Brahmā as instrumental cause; cosmic ṛta/order mirrored in krama.
Application: Act with a sense of delegated responsibility: maintain order, sequence, and humility—undertake duties as service empowered by grace rather than self-assertion.
Primary Rasa: vira
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 3.13.1 (the Lord speaks after praise); Garuda Purana 3.12.109 (dependence on the Lord’s power)
This verse stresses that creation is not random: Brahmā is instructed to manifest the Devas and the rest of existence in a deliberate sequence, under Vishnu’s sanction.
By saying “as before, so now,” it implies recurrence and continuity—creation is renewed in a manner consistent with prior cosmic order, reflecting cyclical time.
Act with discipline and proper sequence in duties (dharma): orderly effort, guided by humility and devotion, is portrayed as aligning human action with cosmic order.
