Gayā-kṣetra and Phalgu Tīrtha: Sites, Rites, and the Liberation of the Pitṛs
Lord Vishnu (speaking to Garuda/Vinata-putra)

Timing: Tīrtha/araṇya-śrāddha; commonly aligned with pitṛ-pakṣa or amāvāsyā (implied).
Concept: Dāna and śrāddha at a potent kṣetra generate strong puṇya; symbolic gifts (tiladhenu) function as merit-transfers supporting pitṛ-gati.

Application: In śrāddha season, practice meaningful dāna (food, education support, cow-care/animal welfare equivalents) with sankalpa for ancestors; keep the act sattvic and non-exploitative.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Type: sacred forest (araṇya) associated with ritual merit

This verse states that properly performed śrāddha has direct posthumous benefit for the Pitṛs, even elevating them to higher realms such as Brahmaloka.
It frames after-death welfare as influenced by the living through rites and gifts: śrāddha and tiladhenu-dāna generate merit that supports and uplifts the Pitṛs toward higher lokas.
Perform śrāddha with sincerity and purity, and include meaningful dāna (charity) in the name of ancestors—especially food/essentials—dedicating the merit for their peace and upliftment.
