A devotee/ritual performer (general supplicant voice within the Garuda Purana’s ritual context)

Concept: Kṣamā-yācñā (seeking pardon) is itself a devotional discipline, to be practiced across all times and states.

Vedantic Theme: Smaraṇa as continuous orientation to Īśvara; transforming all actions (ceṣṭā) into an offering through humility.

Application: Add a brief forgiveness-prayer at dawn/dusk and before sleep; cultivate mindfulness that one’s actions are imperfect and dedicate them to Viṣṇu.

Primary Rasa: karuna

Secondary Rasa: shanta

FAQs

This verse highlights that when devotion or correct performance falls short, humility and a direct request for pardon is itself a dharmic corrective, protecting one’s spiritual intent even amid human limitation.

In Garuda Purana’s broader framework, ritual integrity and inner devotion support auspicious outcomes; this verse provides a practical safeguard—seeking forgiveness for lapses—so omissions do not harden into negative karmic residue.

Maintain sincerity in daily duties (including sandhyā times if observed), and when you miss or imperfectly perform a practice, acknowledge it and consciously recommit—turning guilt into disciplined, ethical action.
