Lord Vishnu (in instruction to Garuda/Vainateya)
Concept: Ritual protection (varma/abhyukṣaṇa) and śakti-nyāsa empower the act of offering; Agni (Jātavedas) is the carrier of consecration.
Vedantic Theme: Īśvara-ārādhana through karma-yoga: outer rite supported by inner bhāva (hṛdā).
Application: Before any major rite, establish protective boundaries, perform nyāsa with attention, then proceed to the central offering with disciplined sequence.
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Type: ritual_space
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.22.9-12 (continuation of homa/maṇḍala/kunda procedure)
This verse treats śakti-nyāsa as a required step after protective consecration, emphasizing inner focus (“with the heart”) so the rite is not merely external but spiritually empowered.
Although not naming the after-death journey directly, it describes a technical ritual sequence—protection (varma/abhyukṣaṇa), empowerment (nyāsa), and invoking Agni (Jātavedas)—that is characteristic of preparatory and protective procedures used in solemn rites, including those connected with saṃskāras.
Approach any sacred duty with both correct method and sincere inner attention: purification/protection first, then intentional empowerment (focus), and finally disciplined offering into the ‘fire’—symbolically, committing actions with clarity and reverence.
