FAQs

This verse illustrates the Purana’s karmic-ethical framing: deliberate harmful acts affecting sexuality or reproduction are described as leading to specific obstructive afflictions (stambha) as consequences.

It links an intentional harmful practice (filling/smearing earth-powder in the yoni) with a defined result (bhaga-stambha), presenting karma as a cause-and-effect moral order rather than an abstract idea.

Avoid actions that exploit or harm others’ bodies; uphold sexual ethics, consent, and wellbeing—since the text treats such harm as generating serious negative consequences.
