“Om, sembah sujud kepada semua makhluk; sembah sujud—kurniakan kejayaan, kurniakan kejayaan—svāhā.” Setelah menjampi bunga karavīra dengan tujuh bacaan, lalu memutarkannya di hadapan seorang wanita, seketika itu juga dia dikatakan berada di bawah pengaruhnya.
Lord Vishnu (in dialogue to Garuda/Vinata-putra, within a ritual-vidhi context)
Concept: Misuse of mantra and offerings for domination illustrates ethical inversion: sacred speech employed for selfish ends.
Vedantic Theme: Kāma-driven appropriation of sacred means; confusion of siddhi with dharma.
Application: Use mantra for self-purification and compassion, not coercion; uphold consent and dignity in relationships.
Primary Rasa: shringara
Secondary Rasa: raudra
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.178 (vaśīkaraṇa with flowers/mantra-abhimantraṇa)
This verse illustrates a typical vidhi pattern: a specific mantra, a fixed number of recitations (seven), and a stated result (phala), showing how ritual efficacy is framed through precise procedure.
Even within broader teachings, the text sometimes includes concise ritual instructions: the teacher states the mantra, the method (consecrating an object), and the promised outcome, presented as a practical addendum to doctrinal discourse.
Read it primarily as a documentation of historical ritual culture and the text’s vidhi-style composition; for ethical living, take the broader Purana emphasis on self-control and dharma rather than using verses aimed at coercive influence.
