Concept: The Supreme is the ‘sāra’ (essential reality) beyond time; sages and their wisdom are manifestations of that one reality.
Vedantic Theme: Brahman/Īśvara as kāla-atīta (beyond time) and as the ground of all names and forms; unity of seer and seen in the highest sense.
Application: Practice viveka (essence-discrimination): prioritize what is lasting (dharma, knowledge, devotion) over time-bound anxieties; keep satsanga with saintly teachings (Nārada/ṛṣi ideal).
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: vira
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.15 (progression from heroic epithets to metaphysical identifications)
It affirms Vishnu as the one who transcends and overcomes Kāla (Time)—the force behind decay and death—granting refuge beyond mortality to the devotee.
By presenting Vishnu as the destroyer of Time, the verse points to liberation as moving beyond time-bound existence through remembrance and surrender to the Supreme.
Prioritize the 'essence' (sāra)—truth, dharma, and devotion—over distractions, and cultivate steady remembrance of Vishnu to reduce fear of change, loss, and death.
