Antaryāmin
Lord Vishnu (speaking to Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Concept: Causality pervades nature; the supreme cause underlies all elemental and organic forms.
Vedantic Theme: Dependence of nāma-rūpa on Brahman/Īśvara; sat-kārya intuition (effect rests in cause).
Application: Practice mindful ‘cause-tracing’ contemplation in nature—seeing rivers/trees as expressions of the divine order—supporting gratitude, restraint, and ecological dharma.
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Type: natural features
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.15.58, 1.15.60-62 (same causal litany)
This verse emphasizes that all natural forms—streams, rivers, oceans, and trees—arise from definite causes, pointing to an ordered cosmos governed by dharma rather than randomness.
Indirectly, it supports the Garuda Purana’s broader teaching that effects follow causes—just as nature has sources, the soul’s post-death experience follows the causes created by karma and conduct.
Cultivate awareness of cause-and-effect in daily choices: ethical actions, restraint, and right living become the ‘causes’ of peace, clarity, and auspicious outcomes.
