Hari tidak dapat dicapai oleh tangan, dan tidak pula diperoleh oleh kaki; Dia tidak dapat digenggam oleh minda, dan juga tidak dapat difahami oleh akal budi.
Lord Vishnu (speaking to Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Concept: The Supreme cannot be 'reached' as an object by action or cognition; liberation requires a shift from grasping to realization.
Vedantic Theme: Aparokṣānubhūti implied: mind and buddhi cannot objectify the Self/Supreme; transcendence of kartṛtva and jñātṛtva; atīndriya-tattva.
Application: In sādhana, reduce compulsive doing and conceptual overreach; practice meditation, japa, and self-inquiry with the attitude that the goal is not acquisition but recognition.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.15.111-112 (knowable through buddhi/jñāna; forms and attributes of Hari)
This verse stresses that the Supreme (Hari) is transcendent—He cannot be captured by sensory action, mental images, or intellectual concepts, pointing seekers toward devotion, surrender, and direct realization rather than mere argument or external effort.
By stating that Hari is beyond physical and mental grasp, it implies the soul’s ultimate refuge is not ritual or reasoning alone but alignment with the Supreme through inner purification and devotion, which is central to liberation (moksha).
Balance study and ritual with sincere bhakti: reduce ego-driven “I can control/understand everything,” cultivate humility, prayer, and ethical living, and treat spiritual practice as inner transformation rather than mere external performance.
