FAQs

This verse presents pativrata-dharma as possessing extraordinary spiritual potency (māhātmya), so powerful it is poetically said to affect even cosmic functions like the Sun’s rising—highlighting its high esteem in dharmic conduct.

Indirectly: it emphasizes dharma and accumulated merit (tejas) as real forces shaping outcomes; in Garuda Purana’s broader framework, such merit supports auspicious destiny and spiritual progress, just as adharma leads to decline.

Treat marital fidelity, integrity, and responsibility as forms of dharma that build inner strength and social harmony—because personal conduct is portrayed as having consequences beyond the individual.
