Concept: Vamśa-smṛti (remembering lineage) as a vehicle for dharma and cultural continuity.
Vedantic Theme: Īśvara as the inner witness of time; nāma-rūpa continuity within saṃsāra.
Application: Honor ancestors and teachers by preserving family/community history and acting in ways that uphold the good name of one’s line.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana, Purvakhanda genealogical/vamśa sections (contextual continuation of royal lineages)
This verse shows the Purana’s role in preserving dharmic lineages and historical memory by listing successive descendants in a royal line.
It does not describe the soul’s post-death journey; it functions as a chapter heading and a lineage statement within the narrative.
Use it as a reminder to honor ancestry and maintain ethical continuity—upholding dharma so one’s lineage and legacy remain worthy of remembrance.
