Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.138 (continuation of Ikṣvāku genealogy)
This verse preserves dynastic succession—linking named rulers through descent—which the Garuda Purana uses to anchor dharma, legitimacy of rule, and Purāṇic history.
It does not discuss the afterlife directly; instead, it functions as a historical-genealogical record, a different thematic layer of the Garuda Purana than the Preta/Karma sections.
It encourages respect for lineage and tradition, and supports study of family history and dharma through continuity—seeing one’s duties within a larger generational context.
