FAQs

This verse frames the offering (dāna) to Skanda and Viśākha as a prescribed devotional act following purification, indicating their role as recipients of ritual gifts meant to generate merit and remove obstacles.

Indirectly: by emphasizing snāna (purification) and dāna (merit-making offerings), it supports the broader Garuda Purana theme that ritual merit and proper observances aid the departed or the performer in overcoming impediments and securing auspicious outcomes.

Maintain ritual purity and intentional giving: begin worship with cleanliness and make offerings/charity with clear purpose—symbolically “cutting” ego and obstacles—while honoring one’s chosen deities with sincerity.
