Concept: Even the ill-conducted are rescued by repeated remembrance of Vishnu; nāma-smṛti overrides demerit through divine grace.
Vedantic Theme: Īśvara-anugraha and prapatti as a means across saṃsāra; bhakti as upāya; the Lord as the sole refuge (śaraṇāgati).
Application: Adopt daily remembrance/recitation of Vishnu’s names, especially in distress; cultivate reliance on grace rather than despair over past faults.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: karuna
Related Themes: Garuda Purana (Preta-kalpa/Upadeśa sections): praise of Viṣṇu-nāma as deliverer from fear and sin (general motif)
This verse states that even those of poor conduct can be delivered from saṃsāra through sincere remembrance of Viṣṇu—highlighting smaraṇa (recollection) as a powerful means of grace.
Rather than describing punishments or after-death routes here, the verse emphasizes a direct spiritual remedy: devotion and remembrance of Viṣṇu as a saving force that can override moral downfall.
Cultivate daily remembrance—recitation, prayer, or mindful recollection of Hari—especially during difficulty, as a corrective to harmful habits and a support for ethical living.
