(iti vijayasaptamīvratam) / nāma triṃśottaraśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ brahmovāca / brahman bhādrapade māsi śuklāṣṭamyāmupoṣitaḥ / dūrvāṃ saurīṃ gaṇeśaṃ ca phalapuṣpaiḥ śivaṃ yajet
Brahmā bersabda: “Wahai Brahman, pada bulan Bhādrapada, setelah berpuasa pada hari Aṣṭamī (hari kelapan) paruh terang, hendaklah menyembah Śiva dengan buah-buahan dan bunga-bungaan, serta mempersembahkan rumput Dūrvā, memuja Sūrya (Dewa Matahari) dan Gaṇeśa.”
