Bhāgavata-Māhātmya and the Complete Summary of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam
This verse highlights Prahlāda as a “mahātmā” and a leading Daitya, indicating that the Bhāgavatam preserves his sacred life-story as a central example of pure devotion (bhakti) triumphing over demonic opposition.
In Canto 12, Śukadeva is summarizing major narratives found throughout the Bhāgavatam; he lists Vṛtrāsura, Diti’s two sons, and Prahlāda to indicate the breadth of histories the Purāṇa contains.
Prahlāda’s life teaches steadiness in devotion and integrity under pressure—encouraging practitioners to keep faith, chant and remember the Lord, and act righteously even when surrounded by hostility or ridicule.
