The Murder of Satrājit and the Recovery of the Syamantaka Jewel
In this verse, Śukadeva explains that Kṛṣṇa returned to the city with His wife and Balarāma and then set out to kill Śatadhanvā and recover the Syamantaka jewel, continuing the narrative of justice and restoration.
Because Śatadhanvā was to be punished and the stolen jewel had to be recovered; the verse states Kṛṣṇa undertook both—killing Śatadhanvā and retrieving the Syamantaka mani.
Act decisively to correct wrongdoing while restoring what was unlawfully taken—upholding dharma through responsible, principled action rather than indifference.
