The Murder of Satrājit and the Recovery of the Syamantaka Jewel
The Lord was quite aware that the Pāṇḍavas had escaped the assassination plot of Duryodhana, although the world heard the false news that the Pāṇḍavas and their mother had perished in the fire.
This verse shows Kṛṣṇa’s concern for His devotees and relatives: hearing that the Pāṇḍavas were believed burned and that Kuntī was performing related rites, He went to the Kurus’ realm with Balarāma.
Here 'kulyakaraṇe' refers to the funerary/obsequial rites performed for someone thought to have died—indicating Kuntī was engaged in such ceremonies for the Pāṇḍavas.
Even when one knows the truth, dharma and compassion call for timely presence and support; Kṛṣṇa models attentive care for devotees and family responsibilities.
