Nanda Mahārāja Celebrates Kṛṣṇa’s Birth; Vasudeva Warns of Danger

कालेन स्‍नानशौचाभ्यां संस्कारैस्तपसेज्यया । शुध्यन्ति दानै: सन्तुष्टय‍ा द्रव्याण्यात्मात्मविद्यया ॥ ४ ॥

kālena snāna-śaucābhyāṁ saṁskārais tapasejyayā śudhyanti dānaiḥ santuṣṭyā dravyāṇy ātmātma-vidyayā

Wahai Raja, dengan berlalunya waktu, tanah dan harta benda menjadi suci; dengan mandi, tubuh menjadi suci; dengan penyucian, yang kotor menjadi bersih. Dengan upacara saṁskāra, kelahiran disucikan; dengan tapa, indera disucikan; dengan pemujaan dan sedekah kepada brāhmaṇa, harta disucikan. Dengan rasa puas, minda disucikan; dan dengan ilmu diri—kesedaran Kṛṣṇa—roh disucikan.

In India five thousand years ago, even in the villages such as that of Nanda Mahārāja, people knew know to purify things, and thus they enjoyed even material life without contamination.
