Nanda Mahārāja Celebrates Kṛṣṇa’s Birth; Vasudeva Warns of Danger
Thus end the Bhaktivedanta purports to the Tenth Canto, Fifth Chapter, of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, entitled “The Meeting of Nanda Mahārāja and Vasudeva.”
In this verse, Śukadeva explains that after being addressed by Vasudeva (Śauri), Nanda and the other gopas took his permission and departed for Gokula in bull-drawn carts.
Śauri is a name connected with the Yadu dynasty; here it refers to Vasudeva, indicating his identity and lineage while narrating his interaction with Nanda and the gopas.
The verse highlights respectful closure and gratitude—taking proper leave and honoring relationships—while continuing one’s duties, a simple dharmic principle applicable in daily conduct.
