This verse shows that merely seeing Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma filled the women of Mathurā with overflowing joy, expressed by climbing rooftops and showering the Lords with auspicious offerings.
Overcome by affection and happiness on beholding the divine brothers, they expressed reverence and celebration by raining down gifts and auspicious items from above.
It teaches to respond to divine remembrance and darśana with sincere celebration—offering one’s best (time, attention, service) with a joyful heart rather than mere formality.
