Govardhana-pūjā: Kṛṣṇa Redirects Indra-yajña to Worship of Govardhana, Cows, and Brāhmaṇas
If a person neglects his religious duties because of lust, envy, fear or greed, his life will never be brilliant or perfect.
This verse states that giving up the traditional, paramparā-received dharma due to lust, hatred, fear, or greed does not lead to real auspiciousness (śobhanam).
In the context of discussing proper worship and duty in Vraja, Krishna highlights that dharma should not be discarded due to selfish motivations like kāma, dveṣa, bhaya, or lobha.
Examine decisions about spiritual practice and ethics: avoid quitting or twisting dharma because of cravings, resentment, anxiety, or greed, and instead choose the path that leads to genuine long-term auspiciousness.
