इति श्रीवामनपुराणे एकोनविंशो ऽध्यायः पुलस्त्य उवाच ततस्तु तां तत्र तदा वसन्तीं कात्यायनीं शैलवरस्य शृङ्गे अपश्यतां दानवसत्तमौ द्वौ चण्डश् च मुण्डश्च तपस्विनीं ताम्

अशा प्रकारे श्रीवामनपुराणातील एकोणविसावा अध्याय. पुलस्त्य म्हणाले—त्यानंतर त्या वेळी, श्रेष्ठ पर्वताच्या शिखरावर वसणारी ती तपस्विनी कात्यायनी दानवांतील श्रेष्ठ असे दोन—चण्ड आणि मुण्ड—यांनी पाहिली.
