मार्कण्डेय उवाच । लोकानां स्वस्तये तात शन्तनुप्रवरात्मज । इत्युक्तं तच्चरित्रं मे किं भूयश्श्रोतुमिच्छसि

मार्कण्डेय म्हणाले—हे प्रिय, शंतनूच्या श्रेष्ठ वंशज! लोकांच्या कल्याणासाठी मी हे सांगितले. हे पवित्र चरित्र मी कथन केले; आता आणखी काय ऐकू इच्छितोस?
