This sopāna is the ‘beauty of bhakti in motion’: devotion becomes effective action (sevā + śaraṇāgati). In the presented unit, the staircase-step is crossed through Vibhīṣaṇa’s renunciation of adharma, his leap from fear to refuge, and Rāma’s public vow of protection—turning ethics (nīti) into liberation-logic (mokṣa via surrender).
येथील रस-रचना रौद्र, करुणा आणि शांत यांची गुंफलेली धार असून तिचा परिपाक अद्भुतात होतो. रौद्र—रावणाने विभीषणाचा केलेला अपमान व हिंसा; करुणा—धर्मनिष्ठ जीवाचा स्वकुळातूनच हद्दपार होणे; शांत—सत्तेपेक्षा शरणागती निवडताना विभीषणाची अंतर्मुख विरक्ती; आणि अद्भुत—रामांचे तत्क्षणी आलिंगन, ज्यामुळे राजकीय आश्रय आध्यात्मिक दीक्षेत परिवर्तित होतो. तत्त्वतः तुलसीदास ‘नीती’ला ‘भक्ती’खाली ठेवतात: शरणागतीविना नीतिमत्ता भयात कोसळते; शरणागतीने मात्र राक्षस-देहही कृपेच्या पात्रतेत बदलतो. दोहे येथे सिद्धान्त-कील ठरतात—विशेषतः रामांची प्रतिज्ञा: एकदा जो समोरासमोर (सन्मुख) होऊन येतो, त्याचे महापातकही रक्षणास अडथळा ठरत नाही. म्हणून सुंदरकाण्ड केवळ लंकेकडे जाणारा सेतू नसून, अहंकारातून सुटून प्रभूच्या ‘निज जन’पणात सामावण्याचा सेतू आहे.
