Jāmbavān Rekindles Hanūmān’s Power
tāṃ viśālāyataśroṇīṃ tanumadhyāṃ yaśasvinīm |
dṛṣṭvaiva śubhasarvāṅgīṃ pavanaḥ kāmamohitaḥ ||
'On seeing the broad hips, slender waist and beautiful limbs of that famous lady the Wind-god was infatuated.
The verse highlights how unchecked kāma (desire) can cloud judgment; Dharma requires inner restraint and respect toward others.
The story turns to the conception narrative connected with Hanuman: Pavana sees Anjanā and becomes desire-struck.
By contrast (through later verses), Anjanā’s chastity and commitment to marital fidelity are foregrounded.
